Vinnie went to the doctor's office today. He's been sick for awhile, was still irritable today and developed a rash yesterday afternoon so we decided to take him in.
Basically the doctor said that the rash was due to the virus and wasn't contagious. He ears and lungs sounded good. She said that it is possible that he had H1N1 and has fought it off. Either way, he is through whatever he had and is cleared to go back to daycare as he hasn't had a fever in 24 hours.
So, we've got one of us healthy. Now to work on me and hope that Emily's sore neck turns out to be nothing.Comments:Add a comment:

The good news: Vinnie has learned a new word.
The bad news: Vinnie has learned a new word.
The new word? MINE!
It feels like we are constantly in that scene from Nemo with the sea gulls. Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! Mine!
Not only can Vinnie say it, he knows what it means and when to say it. This morning he wanted a pack of muffins opened so he stood at my feet repeating "Mine, mine, mine, mine!" over and over again while I tried to open those suckers at top speed!
And then tonight we witnessed it when he dropped some food on the ground. Vinnie thought for sure that Lucy should heed his "mine, mine, mine, mine" cries and stop eating the food and was quite upset when it didn't happen.
So, yeah ... this was cute for about 30 seconds.Comments:Add a comment:

In anticipation of the travel we are doing in a couple weeks, I have loaded some videos on my itouch so I can keep Vinnie entertained on the flight. I was testing them out at gymnastics last night. Once Vinnie discovered that Elmo was on, it was all over for me. He wouldn't give me back my itouch. He wanted to continue watching Elmo.
I gave up and let him and even let him have the itouch when he was in his carseat in the car. It was just Vinnie and I in the car and I was driving down the road when all of a sudden I heard the theme song to Little Einsteins. Somehow Vinnie had navigated away from Elmo and started up a Little Einsteins video all on his own?!?!?!
He is a technical genius!!!Comments:Dee: Not that I want to start any trouble, but the Apple app store has tons of free toddler games that he may like. MJ loves them and plays them all the time in the car. Of course, if you think you can't get the darn thing back now...Add a comment:

Vinnie is continuing to add to his vocabulary. I can't keep up. He was trying to say "all gone" or "all done" tonight. He was very upset that the fruit snacks were all gone.
He has started doing the funniest thing. If you ask him how strong he is, he pumps his arms and then shakes uncontrollably. It is so, so funny!Comments:Dee: Aww! Video please. I wanna see.Add a comment:

Vinnie's school had a photographer come and take individual pictures. I did not purchase any of the packages (as they are rather pricey in my opinion), but I thought I would share the info in case anyone wanted to order anything. There is only one pose and it is in black & white, but it is cute.
To see it:
Go to this website http://lilangelsphoto.com/
Click on Online Store
Enter in this code: 94DCCC and your other information
Then you should see Vinnie's picture.
Vinnie is doing better than he was last week. He is at least eating and drinking better now. Not stellar, but better and I'll take that. He has started a runny nose and a tiny bit of a cough, but hopefully that doesn't turn into more.Comments:Add a comment:

Vinnie is jabbering up a storm lately. Sometimes we know what he is saying ... like his favorite new word is "ELMO". And it is clear as a bell.
But other times he just jabbers on and on and we have no clue what he is saying.
He's darn cute though.
I don't know if I can remember them all, but his words so far are: Elmo, dog, ball (of course), bye-bye, night-night, hi, mama, dada, Gabba, uh-oh, hot ... seems like there are more. I'll come back and add them if I think of them.
He'll try to repeat anything you say. I was trying to find a parking space tonight and I turned down an aisle and realized that there were none and I'd have to turn around and I said, "Hmmmm". All of a sudden from the back seat I hear, "Hmmmm". He's doing that kind of stuff all the time. If you want a real giggle, ask him to say yellow. It is really cute.
As for sounds, he roars like a lion, trumpets like an elephant and moos like a cow. He is wearing cute little pjs tonight that have elephants, lions, tigers and crocodiles on them. I'm surprised that he ever went to sleep with all the noises he was making.
I did end up taking him into the doctor's office this afternoon as he hasn't been sleeping well on and off for the past couple of weeks. And then he has been fussier than normal and then the past few days he hasn't been eating well. We noticed some drainage from his right ear on Saturday which is an indication of an ear infection in a kid with tubes, so we started the antibiotic drops. But the doctor said that they don't seem to be helping fast enough and he thinks that is the main problem for Vinnie and he gave him an oral antibiotic to start on tonight. Hopefully that will help him out. I still think he might be teething too, but a lot of that is based on the fact that he is 16 months old and he only has 4 teeth. The others have to be coming in eventually, right?
One more cute Vinnie story - Brian had let Lucy out the other night and Vinnie came to the back door with him. Vinnie stepped outside and Brian couldn't figure out what he was doing as he was slapping his thighs. But then he figured out that is what we do as we call for Lucy to "come" so Vinnie was just being a little mimic. It was cute!Comments:Add a comment:

I have been remiss in updating here lately.
Vinnie's latest trick is that he figured out how to climb up onto the kitchen chairs - where he sat proudly for about 30 seconds before climbing on top of the kitchen table. He is something else! He had been climbing on top of the parking garage toy that he has and getting stuck on top of it, so it was only a matter of time that he moved onto the next thing.
Another funny Vinnie story was from last Friday. I was cleaning up the kitchen and I knew Vinnie had his sippy cup as I was trying to pay close attention as I had filled up the sippy cup with the last of the milk, so as soon as he put it down I was going to put it back into the fridge so I had fresh milk until I could get to the store later. Well, I blink and I lost sight of the sippy cup. I looked high and low and I could not find it anywhere. I finally gave up and just gave him juice and water for his snack later and for dinner and then ran to the store after dinner and picked up some more milk. I knew the sippy cup would turn up eventually ... and it did. Later that night I was emptying the dishwasher that I had just run and there was Vinnie's sippy cup - full of milk - on the top rack of the dishwasher. He had seen me cleaning up the kitchen and had decided to help. He put that sippy cup and another one full of water in there and they were both run through a full cycle. Mystery solved!!Comments:Add a comment:

Vinnie is starting to enjoy watching Elmo. We have the Elmo Faces video and he watches it. He is becoming a fan of Sesame Street characters.

I haven't been updating this lately.
Vinnie is still adorable. :-) He is more and more expressive every day. Some of it is in the words he can say, some is in his expressions and some is just in his vocal inflections. He is starting to put it all together. He just lights up when you figure out what he is trying to communicate though. It isn't much fun when the frustration sets in, but when you hit on it - it is pure joy!
We have ditched the bathtub and Vinnie officially takes showers now. When he was really small he loved his baths, but the past 6 months or so that hasn't been the case. They have been quick in and out events as he is fussy and trying to get out the entire time. Since we accidentally discovered his love of showers, we have ran with it. He has a ball each and every time we put him in the shower. And, quite honestly, I have just as much fun as he does as he is having so much fun. He has a little bucket in the shower and he just loves to have it filled up and dumped on his head over and over again. Go figure!
With the weather as pleasant as it has been, we have been spending a lot of time at the area parks. I am discovering that Vinnie doesn't have a lot of fear (or maybe it is sense) when it comes to these playscapes. He'll go anywhere and do anything. It is really nice to have Emily as she'll go down the bigger slides with him. He just grins the whole way down. Most of it is from the slide, but I also know that he just loves spending time with Emily too.Comments:Add a comment:

Last night I was cleaning Tony's bathroom and was running the shower to clean it. Vinnie was "helping" me to clean. By helping I mean he jumped into the shower in his t-shirt, diaper and socks. I was surprised that he liked it with the shower running, but - oh he did! I kept trying to get him out and he kept running to the corner of the tub so that I couldn't reach him.
I finally let him go and he had a ball playing. He was so funny!Comments:Grandma Pam: For a boy that started out the summer not liking the water he sure looks like he is having fun. I heard you and Emily were laughing and all of you had a fun time!!!Grandma Donato: Vinnie you are lucky to have such a great mom. A mom who will let you enjoy the simple joys of life! Don't ya just love it?Add a comment:
