    Vinnie is worse than Lucy when it comes to begging. It is really bad. I don't know what we are going to do about him, but if you have food then he demands that you share it with him.

    Just a warning for those about to spend time with him. Either put enough on your plate to share or eat in hiding.

    VINNIE LOVES THE WATER!!

    No lie! I took him to the pool today and he went in the big pool with me and tolerated it. I thought that was a step forward.

    Then we went to the baby pool and he had fun in there again. He splashed, he walked, he fell, he got up, he sputtered ... he enjoyed it all.

    Eventually, Emily got bored in the baby pool, so we went back to the big pool and as soon as we stepped in the big pool Vinnie did not want held. He wanted to swim on his own. No clue what he thought he was going to do, but he was a busy body. He went from clinging to me -> can't wait to get away from me.

    He had a ball! He splashed, he spun, he jumped and he loved it all!! I got tired before he did.

    It was like I had a completely different baby at the pool today!

    Not a lot to report in Vinnie-land right now. He is still stinking cute and ornery and cute!

    Tonight he went up a step and sat and waited until I was looking at him and then he squealed and started up the steps so I had to chase after him. I lifted him off the steps, set him down on the floor and put up the gate to keep him off the steps. I then look up and he is over at my laptop ... hand poised above my keyboard, just waiting on me to make eye contact and as soon as I did - BANG, BANG, BANG on the keyboard. He is ornery I tell you.

    A little while later I "lost" him while I was making dinner. I turned my back and he was gone! I knew he couldn't have gone far, but he doesn't exactly say "I'm right here" when you yell his name. So I went into the dining room, office, family room and back into the kitchen and couldn't find him. I doubled back and still couldn't find him. All of a sudden I look back again and there he is ... hanging out in the dog's bed. It is his new favorit hangout.

    Funny, funny baby.

    I forgot to update ... I picked Vinnie up from daycare yesterday and was reading his sheet that tells me about his day and it said, "Vinnie had a great time during water play".

    I did everything but flat out call the teachers liars because I didn't believe it at all. But they said that the had a ball. At first he just stood up, but he even sat down (he and Sophia were the only ones that sat down) and he was splashing about and having fun.

    There may be hope for this summer yet ...

    Vinnie attended his first baseball game last night. We (all 6 of us) checked out the new Huntington Park downtown and took in a Clippers game. He did really well although he got food and then I let him run around a lot, so what's not to like?

    I saw these two "dogs" (actually people in costumes) and figured he would freak out. But I was shocked when he ran right up to them. One of them leaned down and Vinnie was banging on the nose of the poor dog and squealing in joy. LOL I had to pick him up and move him away and he was unhappy to leave. Gave me hope for the Disney cruise and Disney characters.

    Vinnie's latest thing is that he still loves to "talk" and talk and talk. He isn't saying any words, but he is going a mile a minute. But now he gets half-way through a sentence and before he gets to the end, he is cracking up about something. I wish I was in on his little jokes, but clearly he is one funny kid.

    (Just FYI - I renamed a lot of the photo albums with the year. I don't know if those changes are going to be sent out as part of the update email, but there is a new album called Summer 2009 that will have new pics I uploaded today - but no other pictures were added)

    Many of you saw this in the donatokids.com/blog but Vinnie went to get his haircut last night. First time! Granted they didn't cut off much, but it looks really cute and it is evened up - which was key. It started growing in the back first, so that was where the most of his hair was. They cleaned that up along with the hair over the ears.

    And if you haven't seen the blog post on donatokids.com/blog, check it out as Emily got her haircut too and it looks adorable.

    Many of you will be surprised by this, but Brian and I were talking last night and agreed that Vinnie needs his first haircut. I know! Shocking, huh?

    Granted he doesn't need a lot cut off, but he does need some trimmed and, more importantly, he needs everything evened up.

    Vinnie is a walking fool! And I got a small taste of what it is like to have a completely mobile baby. I stopped at the pet store and there was a display of balls. Vinnie went over to it and kept getting balls out and dropping them on the floor ... over and over again.

    I got the balls back into the display and walked him over to the register. When I let go of his hand, he walked right back over to the display of balls and continued his dismantling.

    Unbelievable ... Vinnie has another ear infection. It started draining this evening, so we started the irrigation and drops routine.

    I'm calling it! Vinnie is a walker. He still falls ... a lot, but he gets himself right back up (even in the middle of the floor) and keeps right on walking.

    He was walking all over the kitchen tonight. We got the video camera out and caught some video, but unfortunately it was after his good mood had evaporated. I'll try to post it soon.

    He's so funny though as he throws his hands straight up in the air when he is walking. And squeals. He is so thrilled with himself. Brian says that he looks like Franken-baby as he goes across the floor. LOL
