Last night I was cleaning Tony's bathroom and was running the shower to clean it. Vinnie was "helping" me to clean. By helping I mean he jumped into the shower in his t-shirt, diaper and socks. I was surprised that he liked it with the shower running, but - oh he did! I kept trying to get him out and he kept running to the corner of the tub so that I couldn't reach him.
I finally let him go and he had a ball playing. He was so funny!Comments:Grandma Pam: For a boy that started out the summer not liking the water he sure looks like he is having fun. I heard you and Emily were laughing and all of you had a fun time!!!Grandma Donato: Vinnie you are lucky to have such a great mom. A mom who will let you enjoy the simple joys of life! Don't ya just love it?Add a comment:

Vinnie is loving his big brother right now. It is all things Tony. If Tony is home, Vinnie wants to be in his arms. And Lord help us all if Tony has to leave. Vinnie is not happy.
Vinnie was so happy to see Tony last night that he wouldn't go to me when I was trying to take him to bed. It ended up that Tony had to take him to bed.Comments:Add a comment:

Vinnie is doing well with the hand, foot & mouth disease. *knockonwood* He must just have had a mild case. Except for the rash, he hasn't had any additional symptoms (i.e. fever, mouth ulcers). He is still eating fine. He is pleasant. He is just covered in dots in some areas.

Vinnie is starting to talk a bit now. You have to listen very, very carefully but the words are there. So far we have: dog, cat, car, cow, uh-oh, bye.
Poor little guy has come down with hand, foot & mouth disease. I noticed he had spots on his bottom when I changed him this morning, but figured it was a rash from being in a wet swim diaper yesterday. I slapped some diaper cream on him and sent him off to daycare.
Well, daycare called before 10am and the spots moved down his leg, up is abdomen and then he had some on his hands and feet. So I had to go pick him up.
He went to the doctor later in the day and it was found that he has this hand, foot and mouth disease. I guess most of the time it starts with a fever and fusiness and then the rash starts. He's had no fever and no crankiness and jumped straight to the rash.
It sounds like the rash is only a problem with the mouth sores. Please, please, please let him skip that. It sounds miserable for the poor kids that have suffered through those.Comments:Add a comment:

Vinnie has gone from hating the water to absolutely loving it. We went to the pool today and he could not get enough of it. He screamed and cried when it was break time. I tried to pick him up to get out of the pool and he turned himself into a wet noodle to try to get away from me. He was UNHAPPY at the prospect of getting out of the water.

Vinnie is trying so hard to talk. He really, really wants to, but the sounds just aren't coming together for him yet.
But he is getting really close on dog, cat and 'Uh oh'. You get the same sounds each and every time with those. So he gets the concept. I figure it won't be long now.
Onto other things ... we FINALLY have a kid that picks up after himself. Who would have known it was going to be the one year old?!?! Vinnie loves to find stuff on the floor and throw it away. He got up the other morning and found a bag of chips that Kristen had finished and left on the table and a paper towel. He immediately picked them up and took them both over to the trash can all by himself! We hadn't even noticed the stuff yet. Woo hoo!
Of course, the downside of this is that a one year old doesn't really understand the difference between trash and 'not trash' so we have to watch him closely. I assume that we have lost at least one sippy cup in the trash can. Either that or it has evaporated into thin air. I am a bit nervous about what else we might have lost/might lose in the future. Guess everyone had better keep their stuff put away lest Vinnie will 'clean it up' for them.Comments:Add a comment:

Vinnie's love of books is expanding. Actually, consuming might be the better word. I remember a friend of mine that had a boy after several girls, described herself as the 'mobile library' when it came time to reading to her son. She was telling me about how different boys were than girls and her example was that her son woudln't even sit still for a book.
Not our boy! He loves them! He is obsessed by books! And, I need to get it on video, but he is so darn cute about it. He'll bring you a book and then you put him on your lap and he'll realize that YOU REALLY ARE GOING TO READ TO HIM and he gets so excited and starts laughing. He quiets down as soon as you start the book and then helps you to turn the pages. He LOVES that part. And if the book is a 'lift-the-flap' type book - BONUS!! He really, really loves those.
As soon as you are at the end of the book, one of two things happens: 1) he grabs the next book beside you and hands it to you or (more than likely) 2) he flips the book back over and wants you to read it all over again. But rarely does the end of the book a signal that we are done reading. OH NO!
His newest favorite book is called The Zoo. I purchased it for him on Saturday evening and I'm surprised that he hasn't rubbed the words off of it already with as many times as we've all read it to him. Although I'm just happy taking a break from "How does a dinosaur learn his colors?" as that one has long been a favorite.
Either way, I hope he continues with this love of reading! I love to see it!Comments:Dee: he gets Chicka chicka boom boom. He'll flip!!! But that's so cute! maybe you should get that "my baby can read" system.Add a comment:
